For travelling martial artists

Arrive expected.

Is this for me?

If you train regularly at home and travel for work or family, MyTrainingAtlas connects you with schools that match your art and lineage in cities you are visiting. You do not need existing contacts, language skills, or a reputation that precedes you.

Why introductions exist

Turning up unannounced is bad etiquette in most martial arts traditions. An introduction gives the school owner the information they need to decide whether to welcome you — your art, your lineage, your rank, your home school. It gives you the information you need to visit respectfully. Both sides know what to expect before anyone sets foot on the mat.

Is this real?

For Schools on MyTrainingAtlas list their art, lineage, visitor requirements, and class schedule.

You can see who is teaching, what they teach, and when classes run before you visit.

How introductions work

The introduction system is 4 simple steps:

Step 1 — Find a school in the city you are headed to
Review their lineage, class timetable, and visitor policy before deciding to approach.

Step 2 — Request an introduction
Propose a date to visit and add extra notes to personalise the introduction.

Step 3 — You are introduced to the school
The school reviews your profile  and approves or denies..

Step 4 — Approved - arrive prepared
They are expecting you.

What the school sees

When you request an introduction the school receives your name, your art and lineage, your rank, your home school, and a short note you write yourself.

They do not see your contact details. All communication happens through the platform.

The school owner reads your profile and decides whether to approve or decline.

You are not guaranteed a visit.

The school decides.

What I control

You choose the school and set your travel date, include a personal introduction note,

The platform handles the rest — sending your request, notifying the school, confirming the visit, and updating both sides if anything changes.

You can cancel or change the date at any time.

What you control

You choose which schools to approach.
You write your own note.
You set your preferred visit date.
You can cancel a request at any time before it is approved.
You are not committed to a visit until you confirm attendance after it happens.

After approval

When a school approves your introduction you receive a confirmation.

The school's visitor requirements are included - what to wear, what to bring, whether a gi is required.

You attend on the agreed date.

If the school declines or does not respond within 14 days, your introduction is returned and you can approach another school.

Your first introduction is free. No card required.

Some schools charge a mat fee payable on the day — that is between you and the school. MTA does not handle it.

What this is not

MyTrainingAtlas is not:

  • a drop-in class finder.
  • a booking platform.
  • a guaranteed visit service.

The school decides whether to accept you. That is how it should work.

What you control

You control the information that represents your school.  You set it once and update it when needed.  The platform does not alter your information.

  • Identity and lineage
School name · Chief instructor · Art · Lineage Island · Branch · Teacher lineage path
  • Visitor policy
Whether you accept visitors · Minimum rank · Etiquette requirements · Equipment expectations · Arrival instructions · Maximum visitors per class
  • Practical details
Schedule · Address · Contact method · Training fees · Any notes you choose to provide

The platform captures only what a visiting practitioner needs to identify and approach your school appropriately. Nothing more. The goal is clarity, not marketing.
